I had made some preliminary concept sketches over the past 10 months, but I felt that I needed to learn SketchUp in order to design my Burning Man Project. I did learn SketchUp but found that it wasn't the tool I needed for conceptual design. But during a family road trip I took up sketching in earnest, and the concepts began flowing. The early concept sketches came from this period.
My intention was to create a structure that seemed to have grown from the ground. It needed to be grounded in construction methods and materials but to have an integrated organic form.
